Dr. David Edmund Ruggieri, MD, is an experienced cardiologist with more than 30 years of clinical expertise in cardiovascular medicine. His career has focused on the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and advanced cardiac procedures, with decades of experience caring for patients with complex heart conditions.
Dr. Ruggieri completed his Internal Medicine residency at Hackensack Medical Center in New Jersey before completing a Cardiology Fellowship through Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. His extensive postgraduate training established the foundation for a career spanning general and interventional cardiovascular care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ruggieri has served as a physician and partner with Cardiology Associates and later as physician and owner of Center For Health. He has also maintained hospital staff privileges at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, contributing decades of cardiovascular experience to patients in Southwest Florida.
Dr. Ruggieri has played a pioneering role in advancing cardiovascular procedures in Charlotte County. His professional accomplishments include performing the county’s first coronary stent procedure, first rotablator procedure, and first transesophageal echocardiogram. He was also part of the physician team that implanted the second automated internal cardiac defibrillator in the United States.
